National Pride

In Asia, Thoughts, Travel, Vietnam on September 16, 2011 by eongxien

During a recent trip to Vietnam, a friend and I shared a 4-bed cabin on board an overnight train to Nha Trang. The other 2 beds were occupied by locals. To be polite, we introduced ourselves.

“Where are you guys from?”

“We are from Malaysia,”

“Ahh… you guys are good… the Asean Cup,”

It took us a couple of seconds to figure what he meant, but eventually…

“Ah the Suzuki Cup you mean,”

He nodded.

Hundreds of kilometres away from home, in a cabin the size of an average cubicle, it’s little things like these that makes you proud to be a Malaysian.

Happy Malaysia Day, folks!
